This is a nightshirt which was worn by George IV circa 1830, near the end of his life. It is made from fine linen and embroidered on the right hand side of the nightshirt in red silk is the Royal cypher- the crown, together with the initials G. R .(which is an abbreviation of the Latin phrase, Georgius Rex-, which translates as King George) and the date.
